Monitoring of the ACP-EU Energy Facility
The ACP-EU Energy Facility was established in 2005 to co-finance projects on increasing access to modern and sustainable energy services for the poor in African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries. With the first Energy Facility (EFI), 74 projects were contracted for a total amount of €196 M, with total project cost of €430M. A second Energy Facility (EFII), with a total budget of €200 million, has been established for the period 2009-2013. A €100 million call for proposals, launched in November 2009, resulted in the selection of 65 projects for funding.
The Monitoring of the ACP-EU Energy Facility has two main purposes:
- To provide information, advice and support to the EC's Delegations in charge of the management of the Energy Facility's contracts. Project implementing bodies can benefit from this assistance
- To facilitate rapid and effective reporting from the Task Managers of the Energy Facility to the hierarchy and to the external partners of the EC.
The present website emphasises the dissemination of project results. It will allow to:
- Contribute to the quality in implementation through the dissemination of results, successful stories and lessons learned from the Energy Facility's projects
- Foster contacts and exchanges of experience between projects

Presentations from the Regional Seminar in Dakar
All presentations from the Regional Seminar in Dakar, 17-18 November 2011 have now been uploaded. During the 2-day seminar more than 20 presentations were made, with an emphasis on the experiences and lessons learnt from the projects financed under the First Energy Facility. The seminar focused on measures that are necessary to ensure access to sustainable energy for all, and discussed how it is possible to ensure and measure the impact of projects in the short and long term.
New contract for the monitoring of the 10th EDF Energy Facility
The awarded projects from the call for proposals launched at the end of 2009 have begun signing their contracts and are gradually entering into their start-up phase. A new 4 year contract has been signed with Danish Energy Management for the Monitoring of the Energy Facility Projects financed under the 10th EDF.

Energy Facility projects and the Clean Development Mechanism
Many of the projects supported by the ACP-EU Energy Facility do in principle have a solid potential for registration as a CDM project. This can be investigated for projects financed under the First Energy Facility and those financed under the Second Energy Facility
